Daniel Mérida Receives the First Wildcard for the Qualifying Draw

The youngster Daniel Mérida, quarterfinalist at Junior Roland Garros, will make his second ever appearance on the ATP tour.
Daniel Mérida has received the first of two wildcards to play the qualifying draw of the Gijón Open – ATP 250 to be held from October 8 to 16 at the Palacio de Deportes La Guía in the Asturian city.
The 17-year-old Spaniard has broken into the Top 500 this season after winning his second professional event at the ITF M15 Valldoreix ($15K) in Barcelona.
Quarterfinalist at Junior Roland Garros, he will make his second appearance on the ATP Tour, having also played the qualifying draw in the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid thanks to another wildcard.
